The Design of Life is a game that was created out of frustration at a business course. During the course there were several workshops on how to find your strengths and how best to represent those strengths. However, the course only seemed to focus on academic and professional skills, taking the personal side out of the equation. This continued throughout the course where personal and professional skills were kept separate and discussed apart from each other.
I personally think that these two are not mutually exclusive, but instead, belong together. Your personal setbacks in life influence your professional environment and vice versa. The game tries to show this with players trying to reach the top of the stairs, representing a career in graphic design, suffering setbacks and surprises that are influenced by personal and professional scenarios.
